1

Can Nero co-exists with other CD writing programs?

Yes, but we do not recommend it. You can search the necessary utilities needed for this in Ahead's Web site

2

error

"Normal" behavior to limit the use of machines in Windows 2000/XP/NT systems. This is resolve by installing NEROBURNRIGHTS.EXE (found in Ahead's Web site). 1. Log-in as administrator 2. Run the program 3. Configure for the type of user you need 4. Reboot the PC

3

How do I continue to write in a disk that is not completely full?

Use the option "Multisession" when creating a new CD.

4

How do I make an upgrade to the latest version?

The upgrades (not to be mistaken with updates) are available under the same number. For example, if you got version 5.0 you can upgrade to version 5.0.1, 5.0.2, etc. But not to the series 5.5 (update). The upgrade can be downloaded for Ahead's Web site and is formed of two parts: The program file and the language file. Do not forget to download both and apply first the program and then the language.

5

I do not have active the options DVD or DD CD when I use the Recording Wizard

Use the command File; Preferences; Expert Features, activate the option: Enable Image Recorder for all... This will permit you to select all options in the Wizard. Is useless to have them if you do not have a DVD recorder

6

I downloaded a demo version and it would not work

Check your computer's system date. The demo should now work. A demo version is only valid for 30 days.

7

I got a compatibility problem with EasyCreator

We recommend using only one burning program in your system. However, you can use both with the utilities you can find in Ahead's Web site.

8

I have an incompatibility issue with EasyPro's DLL libraries

We recommend using only one burning program in your system. However, you can use both with the utilities you can find in Ahead's Web site.

9

I have lost my serial number, what do I do?

Send all you data (including copy of your original invoice) to Ahead's Head Office in Germany so they can send you a new serial number. This is not possible in all cases, if they can not send you a new serial number, you will be entitled to buy one at an special price.

10

I have problems with the burning rights in a Windows 2000/XP/NT system

"Normal" behavior to limit the use of machines in Windows 2000/XP/NT systems. This is resolve by installing NEROBURNRIGHTS.EXE (found in Ahead's Web site). 1. Log-in as administrator 2. Run the program 3. Configure for the type of user you need 4. Reboot the PC

11

I want to use several writers at the same time. Is this possible?

Yes, staring from version 5.5.

12

The original program that came with my old recorder (CD-Writer) would not work with the new one

You may have an OEM version that works only with the brand of recorder you bought. To use Nero with another one, you have to purchase the full version for a small additional cost.

13

There is no English language after I download and install the update

The upgrade has two files, try downloading the "Language" file and installing it.

14

What is the difference between

In Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows NT 4.0, the audio data is shown as *.CDA files (for example, "Track01.cda"). Nero can write directly audio data to a CDR without converting the tracks first to .wav files.

15

Which are the limitations when trying to record MP3 files?

The plug-in included is a demo version and will only work 10 times. You will need to buy the commercial version of the product.

16

Why have I not received the last version when I bought the program?

Because of manufacturing requirements, it is impossible to produce a CD with the latest version. For that reason, you may always download the updates for that version. For example, if you purchase Nero 5, you may freely download and install all Nero 5 updates. Please proceed to Ahead's Web Site to download the latest version of your software.

17

Would not recognize my CD-Writer

Certain writers are only functional from one specific version up. Try to download the latest upgrade from Ahead's Web site. It is form of two parts: the program and the language.

18

Would not work with Windows XP

Some recording softwares will refuse to work with Windows XP in some machines. You will have to disable the recording functions of the OS. A) To disable the Roxio Program: 1. Brute force method Disabling the service: Run: services.msc Scroll down to IMAPI. Right-click it and change to Disable. Click Apply. If it is running, click Stop. 2. Alternative "soft" method: To disable the recording functions of the recorder Go to your Windows Explorer or My Computer and right click on your Recorders drive letter and then go to the "Recorder" Tab and in that window disable the option for "Enable Recording on this Drive". NOTES: 1) On some systems InCD will have trouble with Windows Media Player, because it uses an Adaptec driver that can conflict with InCD. To resolve this, go to your Control Panel´s Add/Remove Programs feature and click on "Change" and uninstall the Adaptec Driver Component only. 2) Make sure there are no programs running in the background before you try to format with InCD. Also make sure to use Nero to do a FULL erase on the CDRW media before you format with InCD.

How can I do overburning in a CD (80 or 90 minutes)

Overburning, also known as oversizing, writes information on parts of the CD that are not typically written on. This writing occurs on the "lead-out" portion of the CD. A CD "lead out" tells the CD-ROM that it has reached the end of the CD. Combine an overburn-capable CD-R, CD-R media, and software, and you can write into the lead-out space of the CD. Just as not all CD-Rs can perform overburning, not all CD-ROM/Rs can read overburned data. CD-R media is not certified beyond the 650MB mark. You put any data beyond that mark at risk from lower quality dye and coating at the edge of the disc. Some writers just refuse to do overburning turning-off the laser beam after 75 minutes. You will need: 1. A CD Writer that is physically capable to do overburning. 2. A CD-R disk that meets this standard 3. In Nero Select File; Preferences; Expert Features; Enable overburn ... ; key in the value ( up to 82:59:59 minutes); read the warning. Remember that your disk maybe useless in other readers and that you can damage your CD /cd-Reader in the process.

20

How do I do a 100 minute CD? (Overburning)

1. Make sure your recorder can make this type of disk without suffering physical damage. 2. Select File; Preferences…; and then the "Expert features" tab. 3. Select the option "Enable overbur..." and change the duration to 99 minutes (not 100) and accept 4. Create your compilation as usual but be sure not to use multi-session and that the option "Disk-at-once" is active, if this is not the case, this type of recording is not possible. 5. Begin the recording, you will receive a warning message, accept to begin the process.

21

Nero informs that there is a previous installation

1. Uninstall Nero 5x using the Control Panel 2. Manually remove the directory C:\Program Files\Ahead. 3. Erase the file NEROCD95.VXD, that you will find in Windows\System\IOSUBSYS. Or try a search form the Explorer. 4. Open Windows's registry using REGEDIT or REGDIT32, search NEROSHX.DLL and erase. 5. Reboot. 6. Install Nero 5.5

22

Nero would not recognize my burner (CD-Writer)

Verify in Ahead's Web site that your writer is compatible. Some of them are only recognized in a specific version. Upgrade to the latest version available.
